EXPLORE EUROPE ~ 2 COUNTRIES IN 5 DAYS ~ GERMANY & AUSTRIA (DAY 3-5)

My trip to Salzburg was special because it somehow brought fragments of childhood memories.   When I was a kid, I would always make sure to watch on TV whenever Sound of Music was shown, which was usually during Christmas.  So when I went for “The Sound of Music Tour”, I (as well as the other tourists) had so much fun singing along with the Von Trapp Family’s songs being played on the bus.

It was cold and wet when I was in Salzburg, but it does not matter if it was raining, being a “pluviophile” that I am, the more I have enjoyed the tour.  See below few of the photos I have taken of the places I have gone to.  My favorite is the Lakeside District.  Hope you enjoy it.

Leopoldskron Palace

The lake where the famous boating scene was filmed. You will see the Captain´s backyard and private palace gardens.

Hellbrunn Palace, Gazebo

The gazebo which was rebuilt especially for the fans of the movie - you certainly will remember the "16 going on 17" scene and the kissing scene of Maria and Baron von Trapp.

Salzburg Lake District

After the film-location tour within the town of Salzburg, we drove out into the lake district, passing Lake Fuschl and Lake Wolfgang, where panorama shots and scenes of the picnic were filmed.

St Michael's Church Mondsee

The famous church, where the wedding of Maria and Baron von Trapp was filmed in the movie The Sound of Music.

For me Salzburg is one of the beautiful cities I have seen and I would definitely comeback if given the chance.  But next time it would be summertime, I want to see how it looks, especially the countryside, when the sun is up, the sky is blue and the fields are green.
